Supplier Spotlight: Spindle
Originally Published in the 2025 Q3 CSCNetwork News
Spindle’s journey began within the broader operations of its parent company, Dober, which initially served as a chemical supplier to the commercial laundry industry.
Well before we began offering commercial laundry operations software, we were deeply involved in the industry, building many great relationships.
Fast forward to 2025. Spindle now serves as an all-in-one platform for commercial laundries to better manage every aspect of their operations. In addition, we also launched Spindle Robotics to help commercial laundries work smarter with automation.
That’s not all, though – we have additional exciting developments to be announced at The Clean Show in Orlando, Florida, later this year.
A lot of hard work and innovation has propelled Spindle to this point, from chemical supplier to all-in-one software platform and automation multiplier.
It all started with a simple idea: solving laundries’ most difficult problems through technology.
First up was creating more visibility into laundries’ day-to-da
y operations by bringing islands of information together.
Spindle’s Beginnings
Dober – founded in 1957 and now in its third generation as a family business – had a long history of supporting wastewater treatment and wash chemistry needs. However, its foray into software began organically with the creation of systems to track chemical feed and wash KPIs, like churn times and chemical usage.
This innovation laid the foundation for what would become Spindle, an integrated data and operations platform that now drives visibility and performance across laundry plants.
Officially launching in 2007, Spindle got its start as a workforce management and utilities tracking tool.
Since then, hundreds of
companies across four continents have used Spindle to boost productivity, improve their equipment maintenance programs, better track their utilities usage and more confidently allocate their workforce according to shifting daily needs.
Addressing Industry Pain Points
As laundries began demanding interoperability among vendor systems, Spindle stepped in to solve a persistent industry issue: isolated data silos.
While many vendors failed to collaborate effectively, Spindle saw an opportunity and officially entered the industry to bridge the data gaps, enabling plant-wide operational insights and coordination.
This early focus on customer feedback and real needs set Spindle apart from the beginning.
Prior to implementation of Spindle, production tracking at many laundry sites entailed a completely manual process, consuming hours of daily labor and resulting in unreliable data. Staffing decisions, order fulfillment, and workflow optimization were all hindered by inaccuracies.
With Spindle in place, they began to experience instant improvements in productivity, thanks to real-time data tracking and intelligent displays. These changes eliminated the need for manual counts and allowed managers to make informed decisions confidently.
Spindle’s Innovation Journey
We got our start writing software for chemical feed systems, we expanded in response to an expressed need from the market.
“A lot of the customers were asking for the vendors in the industry to have systems talk to one another instead of these islands of information that were out there,” Spindle founder and CEO Chris Dobrez said.
With that in mind, Spindle’s offerings grew to touch every area of the commercial laundry plant.
In the last nearly two decades, Spindle has grown significantly, and now includes core products like:
- Workforce: organized data and visual workstation displays to help drive better productivity and improve employee engagement
- CMMS: Data-driven strategies to help operators better understand their equipment maintenance profile and mitigate unplanned downtime
- Rail: Provides visibility into available inventory on a laundry’s rail system
- Equipment Utilization: Dashboards that help users visualize how well their equipment is working and identifies areas for improvement
- Requirements and Staffing: Dynamic data that helps inform managers’ workforce strategy, allowing them to adjust their personnel according to the day’s needs
- Water and Energy: Utilities tracking to more quickly assess excess usage (saving money in the process)
All of these applications are powered by real-time data that users can access in one place, whether via desktop or mobile.
But Spindle’s innovation journey hasn’t stopped there.
Earlier this year, the Spindle team announced the launch of Spindle Robotics. As plants seek ways to automate some of the more repetitive tasks in their operation, Spindle is positioning itself as a provider of commercial laundry robotics solutions that can integrate seamlessly with any laundry infrastructure.
With robotics, laundry operators can invest in their future by making their operations more efficient, reduce human error and free up employees to do other types of non-repetitive work.
In addition to Spindle Robotics, the Spindle team has some other updates to share at this year’s edition of The Clean Show in Orlando, Florida. The Spindle team looks forward to welcoming others in the industry to Booth 3211 and sharing more about what we’ve been working on.
Data-Driven Partnership and Continuous Support
What sets Spindle apart is not just its technology, but its hands-on, long-term commitment to customer success. With expert guidance from the Customer Success team, Spindle ensures every plant understands and leverages its data effectively. On-site trainings help plant managers understand how to use Spindle software and implement the actionable insights it provides.
Rather than implementing software and stepping away, Spindle builds lasting partnerships, engaging in continuous feedback loops to evolve with their clients’ operations. This approach fosters collaboration, accountability, and mutual growth.
On top of all that, Spindle can integrate with any plant configuration or any infrastructure. In everything that we’ve done, our goal has been to make implementation as easy as possible for everyone in the plant, whether it’s the plant manager, IT, maintenance engineers or front-line workers.
Our Long-Running Relationship with CSCNetwork
Spindle has enjoyed a long and beneficial relationship with CSCNetwork. It’s great to be involved in an organization with other like-minded companies that strive every day to push the commercial laundry industry forward.
As attendees of the annual CSC Convention, we’ve gotten great value out of meeting representatives of independent laundries from all over, hearing their stories and learning more about what their plants need to succeed. Spindle team members have attended the convention for over 20 years, and we’ve built many great relationships with independent laundries as a result.
At the end of the day, we want to hear from people in the industry so we can better serve those great people to realize commercial laundry success.
As we mentioned earlier, that’s in part how Spindle came to be what it is today: listening to people in the industry and responding to their needs.
